CUSD Students, Staff, Families, and Community,

How exciting it is to see our students in classrooms, on campuses, making new friends, sharing new experiences, and acquiring the tools they need to become successful adults. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible efforts to ensure that learning has continued during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our focus during the 2021-2022 school year will be on accelerating learning and supporting students’ social-emotional well-being. CUSD offers a range of resources to help each child grow and thrive, including:

  • Excellent instruction supported by a robust professional development program for staff
  • Safe, inclusive, and hospitable learning environments where families are encouraged to partner in their children's education
  • Multi-tiered Systems of Support that take into account the whole child, providing continuous improvement through targeted, data-based interventions
  • A focus on college and career preparation which includes dedicated College Transition Learning Directors and an award-winning Career Technical Education program (see U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of CUSD high schools among the top 5 in the Modesto area!)
  • Chromebooks for every K-12 student with no- or low-cost Internet options available
  • Free after-school care for K-8 students
  • Free breakfast and lunch

Thank you for entrusting me to serve as a CUSD leader for the past 16 years, and now as Superintendent! There truly is no better team of students, staff, families, and community, and I am excited to partner with you in our students’ educational journey.

If you have questions or need support during the school year, please don’t hesitate to reach out to school or district staff. To learn more about me and my vision for the Ceres Unified School District, please click the video links above.

Sincerely,
Denise Wickham, Ed.D.
